Does anyone know what the connector is from behind the dash that plugs into the stereo?

I think I have the original Pioneer radio cassette, and I found this post in the cerbera forum suggesting this connector, but I'm not sure its right. I have a thin wide black connector with 12 holes for the pins in the back of the stereo.... I'll go take some pics....

Thanks in advance for any help

doesn't look like it...... here are the promised pics. includes connector, back of stereo, and misc bits of dash and kitchen surface
New stereo has "standard" ISO connectors I believe....

From the link you posted it looks like the connectors suggested would do the job. But why not pop into your local halfords or car hifi shop, take in the old stereo and find one that fits.

P.s. You've got a cracking veneer problem to then!!

Edited to say, failing that, chop the old connector off, buy a standard new-type connector which has open wires at the other end, suss out what wire is what (not as hard as you may think), and get crimping!

you mean the ones I linked to, rather than mustards, I assume.
I popped into the local halfords this morning, but the ripspeed guys were all out, and the other guy wasn't sure..... the one for a landy disco was out of stock too have to pop over to swindon this afternoon, might try their halfords....

yep! the main dash is cracked as well.... I'll be sorting that either through the dealer, or via London Carriage Craft sometime when money permits.... I listen to the stereo when I'm not listending to the V8, so they come first!

was thinking about that..... I'm thinking about a Blaupunkt DAB head unit, but while I work out what I want, I thought I'd quickly pinch the Blaupunkt CD tuner unit out of the triumph in the garage, and stick it in the hole.

Might be worth checking in a Rover dealer to maybe?

Yep, my dash is cracking all over the place to, the strip under the stereo has actualy come off now. When I get her back from the bodyshop getting a new (aluminium) dash is close to the top of my list of things to do to her. Along with a good 'ol tune up!

FYI: spoke to ripspeed guys in swindon halfords this afternoon. they said it looked like someone had modified the original loom and fitted an aftermarket stereo unit. they also stated that the connector block was a pioneer loom, and no one but pioneer used that connector. their suggestion was to undo the chocy block and remove it, and connect a new ISO connector into the chocy blocks...

I just need to work out which wires are speakers, and which are power.

My stereo doesn't work without the ignition key, so I'm assuming I'll just have a switched 12V, ground and 4 pairs of speaker wires.

Damn, thats the newer style dash than mine with the rotary switch for the headlights.

Mind you, Guess I'd better wait until I get the crumple and light upgrade sorted before I spend any more dosh on her!! Or I won't be able to fill her up for the drive home when I get her back at the end of Feb

Hmmmmmm......end of Feb
