as its winter and i'm cleaning and repainting the chassis i have noticed a small area on the outriggers just under the drivers seat area where the tube that connects the main chassis to the outer tube of the outrigger has a small rust hole in it, has anyone replaced the whole outrigger without taking the body off or has anyone managed to repair this area , the rest of the outrigger on that side is ok , just this one bit is buggered.

is it possible to cut the whole thing off without removing the body.

I reckon you could grind the outrigger off, but to weld on a new one and paint/protect it properly would certainly require the body off.

The chassis needs to be dropped down 6-8 inches to gain propper acess for the welding etc, it doesnt have to be removed totally but if the corrosion is that bad you want to look at having it re-powdercoated after the repair which would involve removal anyway.

Just had mine done, took it to Peninsula TVR at Exeter, took the body off, renewed out rigers, sand blasted, galvanised and powder coated the complete chassis. Also had new bushes and wishbones, shocks, springs, clutch etc.

To take body off, strip chassis, renew both outriggers, sand blast, powder coat, new wishbones at front, new poly bushes all round, new ball joints, new rear drop links, new engine mounts, new spax adjustable shocks and new standard springs, new clutch, new steering rack inc tracrod ends, new clutch master cylinder, new rear discs and pads. £4500.

Car now drives like new, just needs the front brakes upgrading.

, It seems a lot, but I suppose when you start to add all the other things done, besides the outriggers/chassis work it starts to add up.
It is probably difficult to break it down as well, with most of the jobs going hand in hand with the chassis strip down. So apart from material cost (wishbones/bushes etc) it should effectively cost nothing to fit them . Which is a bonus , but where do you draw the line , then again I suppose undeneath your's is now as good, if not better, than any chim out there.

HarryW, ever seen links to ebay or other suppliers on the PH forum's before ? Thought so - at least I have been up front about my involvement with this product.
If people aren't interested they won't respond.
To be honest the effort I put in to get the discount wouldn't have been worth it even if everyone who read PH bought one.
Mind you - I wouldn't have to buy many beers for a few months !

Yes I understand what you are saying but do you have to say it in multiple forums , all strength to your arm if you can make a buck out of it .

HarryW, all,
Sorry if I hijacked the thread.
I have a wedge and only read the wedge forum - I assumed most owners were the same.
All models suffer chassis corrosion so thought I would make all aware.
Will remove all leaving a mention in the general forum.
