Speedo on the blink, heater also
Discussion
Hi,
On Monday my speedo and odometer didn't work until I'd driven for 30mins, it did the same yesterday as well.
I have taken off the dash and checked the leads and all seems OK, is there a sensor/transmitter that I can check.
Also my Heater suddenly stopped working, then started again, then stopped. Can anyone help here?
I've just ordered the bible, but would like to sort the speedo thing out ASAP.

I had the same thing happen with my speedo/odo. It was going in for a service at the time (with David Batty), and just before it went in, neadless to say, it fixed itself!
David checked the distances on the contacts and said all was fine. It has been fine since then, but David said that if it happens again, he would have to send the unit away for checking/refurb.
No idea on the fan issue.
Sorry not to be of more assistance.

The speed sensor is the most likely culprit if both the speed and distance readings are not working. It should not be the fuse or wiring unless its broken and making contact only when it warms up.
The speed sensor is on the rear of the gearbox for SD1 cars or on the diff for a T5 gearbox.
