Chimaera battery change

Hello all,

I have a 1996 Chimaera 4.0HC with a seriously dead battery.

My new battery is on the way but I was looking for info or a link to details for removal and refitting.

I hope someone can help.

Make sure you have your radio code if it has one
Make sure you have your blipper before connecting the new battery because the alarm may go off.

Lift the carpet
Mark the floor where the battery clamp currently is now with a big black marker
Undo the bolts from under the car and remove the clamp holding the battery in place
Disconnect battery (being careful with the spanner attached to the +Ve - don't let it touch anything) and slide it out.

Reattch is the reversal of the above (AND BE CAREFUL OF THAT SPANNER!), you'll discover how useful the black line is on the floor when you slide everything back in.

Don't worry about disconnecting the battery, sometimes the ECU gets its knickers in a knot and the battery needs disconnecting to resolve it, so it shouldn't be an issue.

for about £8 you can get a battery maintenance plug.
effectively a small 12v battery that plugs into the ciggy socket and keeps everything alive. ECU/Radio etc.
saves alot of messing about if its not completely dead already.
