has anyone replaced the front seal on the diff as mine has a leak which aint getting any betterand i like to do my own work, so dont say take it to a dealer. And how do you tell which diff is fitted , my chim is a 94 with a later type box with the speed sensor just in front of the diff nose, and the diff has fins on the back cover , cant find any numbers on it .

Most covers are sealed with a liquid sealer such as Hylomar blue etc, none that i've seen have had a gasket as such.

If your diff is roundish then its a BTR, it should have BTR ENG on the casing somewhere,it has cooling fins on the underside.

If its squarish with a small box with cooling fins to the rear then its a GKN.

just read your post again and see that its the front seal that you want to replace,I use Bernie at Competition Transmitions for LSD stripdowns as they need proper setting up when rebuilding, sorry i cant be any more helpfull.

well it looks as though its the early diff GKN type and the seal is £38 which seems alot for just one seal and a chap at austec racing will talk me though the replacement of the seal hopefully , well he said he would last year anyway.
