Anyway.....
Insurance is due for renewal, and I've got a quote of £530 from privalege (35, garaged, full NCB)
I thought that was a pretty good deal, unless there are any pearls of wisdom out suggesting otherwise. They did want an extra £92 to protect my NCB though, which seemed a little steep. Does anyone know if this is normal ??

Going through a similar exercise at the moment, getting some prices on different TVR's, Cerb 4.5L/W, Tusc S, and T350's.
Now my current insurance with Sunninghill is consider reasonable, so got some quotes from them and a few others and the results are varied!
Some are a lot higher that I expected, one is considerably less!
If you drop me a mail I'll attach a little spread of my findings.

I agree with Al (Tweety). Try Direct Line. I'm with them and pay £480, full ncd, garaged, unlimited mileage (but not cover for track days) and you can pay in monthly instalments. I've got my Home & Contents insurance with them too and subsequently received 25% discount off my first year's insurance with the Chim.
I recently renewed a 6000 mile per year policy on my Chim, the figures are probably not relevant as I have a London Postcode but the clear joint winners of my ringing around were Sunninghill and Classicline.
The only difference that swung it in Sunninghill's favour was the DOC bit of the policy. Having recently given up a fully comp traders policy doing without the DOC bit was not an option. For the figures you mention the premium for protected NCB is well over the top.

If there's one thing I've discovered about motor insurance over the years is that the "best value insurer" not only varies annually, or indeed monthly, but is also dependent on your circumstances.
In other words, just because I got a good deal with Insurer A and a ridiculously expensive quote with Insurer B doesn't mean it will hold true for you. It may even be the opposite.
For me, 2 years ago Cheam were the most competative, last year it was Sunninghill, and this year it was A. Manning. This was on the Chimaera, BTW.
For the Corrado, Manning's couldn't even come close and the best deal was with elephant.co.uk by several hundred pounds.
Elephant also beat my wife's renewal premium with Privilege by a big margin 10 days ago.
I've also heard good reports about Liverpool Victoria, but on this occasion they weren't competative for either of my cars.
