Frozen Door knobs

Did anyone else get frozen out of their car this morning? It has happened twice to me now.. Knew I should have put it in the garage last night..

yeah, have had that. opened the car, started it while I scraped the ice off the windscreen, and then couldn't get the damn door open. pouring a little water on it can help, or (as I did) stand there with your hand on it warms it through enough to get in......

Funnily enough I got in OK, popped round the corner to pick something up from the Post Office and almost couldn't get back in!
Had to push the button real hard and it only came up half way - just enough to hold the door closed. Was a good couple of miles before it came back fully.

A well known independant close to me suggests running some engine oil around the rim when the button is depressed to seal against water ingress, this would possibly stop the button freezing too?

I use it to decide which car to drive that morning. If I cant get in then its probably a better idea to take the other car

not an option for us. we have the tiv and a tintop..... 2 of us, working in different directions from home. someone has to take the tiv......

I have the choice of the Tiv or CBR, no way I was going to freeze to death on the bike today..

MrsHobbit won the "who takes the tiv today" argument this morning, and so I drove to work in the tintop peering out of the window at the wonderful blue sky thinking how nice (if cold) it would be to be driving to work with no roof and my wooly hat on.

My next door neighbours Boxster was frozen over this morning, including his door locks.

My offer to "urinate" all over them in order to release them was not received in the spirit it was intended........
