Battery (and Fitting) Prices...
Discussion
Hi guys,
Can anyone suggest anywhere in Norfolk (pref. near Norwich) where I can have a new battery fitted to my 500?
I called a TVR dealer near Ipswich, and they wanted £68 plus vat for the battery and £30 plus vat to fit it, that makes about £115!
This seems rather high to me, what do you guys think?
Cheers

Probably right for a main dealer, but you should be able to fix it for less than half that bill
Any car battery dealer will be able to help you, even Halfords have been known to stock them, so try a local motorfactors, it will help if you can take the old battery out first so you can match it to the new one, not only the power rating but the physical size as it's got to fit in the box
Getting the battery in and out is quite simple and a quick search on here should find at least 5 threads in the past month with instructions

Halfords were able to supply me with a battery for about £85. Fitting it was really easy. If you look under the under side of the body, directly under the battery there are two screws. Just take them out and then slide the battery from the passenger footwell. Took me about 10 minutes in total to do! The real pain in the arse is all the wiring above the battery getting in the way all the time.
Just installed a Varta (Ref: 96 Reverse) battery, after being told all the local LR brigade upgrade to this model at 650A Cold Cranking. Its a nice snug fit in the battery box (seems as if box was made for it), has handles and can be vented either side. Turns over much better than the newish type 72 I nicked off my Discovery when I updated to floor mounted battery box.
FWIW:
Bolted 2 luggage straps to floor (and front of footwell) so I can strap the battery box in - they also keep the cover and carpet cover in place. Easy to fit & remove.
Added a Disconnect battery terminal isolater from VWP. Wired in connectors for charging in the boot & footwell by adding fused connectors to each battery bolt.
