Another Broken Door Mirror!!

Drivers door mirror has been getting a little loose recently and last night I managed to brush past it and break it completely!!, it is now hanging with its wire!! its the bit inside the mirror that has snapped in half. A piece of metal with a hole in that is held down by a washer and nut. Is it possible to take the mirror to bits or is the case one piece?? If I can get inside the mirror I think I can fix it!!

You should be able to remove the glass that will allow you to get inside.

Do a search using wing mirror or door mirror. One of the posts will tell you how to take the glass out.

This happened to my door mirror!

Adjust the mirror upwards (assuming it's still working electrically although you can push it gently) to expose a plastic tag underneath the glass at the bottom. With a pair of long-nosed pliers, move the tag to release the mirror glass (IIRC anti-clockwise) and there should be two electrical connections. Once you remove these, the glass should come away in one piece. Then there are then 3 cross-headed screws to undo and having done this the casing should split into two sections. From there, you should be able to strip down the rest of it...

Thank you Cosmos, very helpful!! , Have done as per your instructions and with the help of Mr Chemical Metal, made like new!! Is now better and more secure than before!!!

I went out to choose some wallpaper this afternoon and bought a new car instead...

Now that's what I call a successful shopping trip

The salesman was rather but as I was feeling just a tad guilty with my purchase I did haggle over the price

And got my own way, of course!!

Still can't find the right wallpaper tho'

A Trebant!

Didn't know garages sold cars and wallpaper, if you can call a Trebant a car that is. Body is apparently made from recycled wallpaper however.

Kerridges keep the metal brackets in stock,had to put a new one on mine recently,what joy.

ended up ditching the allen head grub screw and made a stainless bolt that could be tightened in a few seconds,much easier and no paint damage.
