How to charge battery..on or off ?

A quick question to ask if I can charge the battery in.situ or do I have to disconnect the leads, remove the Battery etc....? or is there another way/place of connecting the Croc. clips to get some charge into the Battery.... !

I had an almost flat battery this morning. I charged the battery up without disconnecting it. From what I've read in the bible this appears to be ok provided you do not use too many amps, although a little awkward to get at.
Leven do a kit which as they say "Eliminates the need to disturb the battery or ECU to jump start or charge the battery." so that would seem to back it up.
I have an Accumate charger built in but it still went flat - must use my car more! as the alternator does the best job.
My battery could be on its way out, but can anyone tell me how to check if my accumate is actually working as it should be?

lol,,, I'm in the same position, the batteries certainly do not like this time of year - lack of activity/ bad weather,, once I get the new battery for my Chim,, I shall never ignor her for weeks on end again!!!

It's not necessary to remove battery to charge it unless you're planning on boosting it at high current. Charging via cig lighter should be Ok up to around an amp which should be fine for an overnight charge. Best of all is something like the Leven kit which provides high current terminals in an accessible location. SOrry, don't know how to check what the Accu-mate is doing but it should maintain the battery at optimum performance.

Hi,
This happened to me two weeks ago. I have an airflow charger and still the battery went flat. Great service from the AA replaced it and advised me not to use the charger all the time. Again best cure is to use the car more often. Fortunately, It was in my drive after being taken for a dry winter day run.

I've got a Leven battery lead under the bonnet and seperatly a battery conditioner that plugs into the cigar lighter.

I got Fernhursts to fit the Leven lead at the last service. I use it to put car on charge if it's going
to be left for a while.

Otherwise I use the battery conditioner. Now that I've got some big eye tags that fit the battery clip bolts I'm going to use the dedicated adaptor that can be got for the conditioner.

I got all this stuff from the TVRCC BTW.
