Alarm system

Hello, can anyone adise me re the two settings for the alarm on a 99 Chimaera. When I set it the indicators flash once and thats it. I also understand that there is a mode to set it for microwaive for when the top is off / down?
Appreciate any advice please.

Press and hold the remote (for about 3 seconds) - until the indicators flash at normal speeed AND ALSO then do about 3 flashes in quick succession - then the microwave sensors are set for roof down mode - still active though as once proven when an old dear leaned in mine once and set the alarm off, she got the fright of her life when me and my 6'7 mate came running full speed round the corner to the car and she was there
