Check the connection behind the radio panel. While I was oiling my light switch I noticed that the ribbon cable on the hazard switch was only just holding on. I hope it's that easy for you!
ah ok, maybe I wont have to take the dash top off after all to get at the relays ! maybe vibration has caused the cable to come loose, I will take a look.Cheers

check the fuse. i dont know which number it is off the top of my head but it says in the handbook. its the same fuse as the central locking and stereo (on mine anyway) so if they dont work either then its most likely the fuse.
aha thanks for that, we have a winner. Central locking isnt working either, just blows the fuse. Guess I should have checked in the bible first. Ok, so now I need to pull out all central locking wires to find the short. Hoping that its just some water in a connector either in the door or in the cubby with all the wires behind the drivers/passngers seats

Bit of a thread revival but thought I'd add something to this -
The same fuse on mine (blue 15A fuse for hazard / siren) blew today. The difference being I was doing 60mph addict caused the engine to cut out - no steering or brakes...car would turn over but no fuel pump priming. Hazard lights not working, dors not operating on the fob.
AA came out, replaced the fuse and all was well..for 2 miles...then it happened again.
Low loader time.
So it's seems to me that the hazard lights / locks not operating causes the immobiliser to kick in?
It's back at the garage to be sorted.
Bit frustrated - I've had the car for three months and it's left me at the side of the road 4 times in that period! :-(
