Car ignores me

got home this evening, plipped Meta thingy to lock it. All good.

Went out just now to move it under cover (its raining), and wont respond to plipper. Won't respond to backup plipper either.

Have to admit it's done something similar recently when it wouldn't lock itself, but this is the first time it wouldn't unlock itself.

Presume the alarm receiver is on the blink?

I suppose I should be happy it decided to do it when I was at home and not strand me somewhere....

I knew I was tempting fate. Worked ok this morning - probably waiting for a better opportunity to strand me good.

You probably done this already, but sometimes things electrical (be it a PC or a toaster) stop sulking if you switch them off an on. I have been taught this wise lesson by many PC Support professionals. I got stranded next to Tower Bridge rush hour Friday night blocking traffic (popularity) when my immobiliser got very protective. Pulled fuse out, shoved it back in, and it started working again. Has worked ever since. Go figure...

check the batteries in both larm fods. yo never know. try taking one battery out , wiping the contacts , maybe bend them on a little to get a better contact, and have another go....mine gave up a few weeks ago and this worked..

BTW have you got two very thin batteries, back to back or just the one? I had two for some reason, still works ok though.

I don't think it's the batteries in both plippers. They both work fine and from a fair range usually.

Believe it or not I am an 'IT Professional' and I never thought of re-booting the car!

I was intending to replace the Mark Adams chip with the original and replace the Odyssey battery with a standard type just incase I do choose to sell, so this will be a fairly comprehensive re-boot.

Incidentally, while fiddling about when locked out I tried turning the door lock using the key and pressing down in the old fashioned way and managed to get the button stuck down! Now can't open the door on that side. Will try soaking with WD40 and prising it up at the weekend.

2 weeks to service - can I last out.
