Windscreen Wiper Motor
Discussion
I don't know if this has been mentioned before (I imagine it has) but I will post it anyway as it saved me some money and might help someone else out there. My wiper motor had given up on life and I assumed I needed a new one. I took it apart to check its condition and noticed that the bushes had corroded and basically disintegrated. Instead of buying a whole new motor, I stumbled across this link on ebay --> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
It fits the motor perfectly and fixed my problem. Prior to assuming you need a new motor, give it a try. It saved me £70 at the very least and probably more given the fact that nobody could source a new motor anyway.

Hi DMX ... was this the part that you linked to before ...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-MINI-WIPER-MOTOR...
The one you linked it to said it's no longer listed. I think my motor has had it. Going to try the park switch this weekend but then failing that i'll give this a go as well. If that isn't the right part would you mind sending me a link to the right one.
Cheers,
AJ

Not had this problem yet! Perhaps new bushes (carbon brushes?) can be made DIY? I made two new bushes for our very old Bosch washing machine from new bushes for another machine. A bit of fileing to fit, Join it up. Hey presto, surprise it works. Lucky me.It fits the motor perfectly and fixed my problem. Prior to assuming you need a new motor, give it a try. Cheers Eddie,
I'm going to try the park switch but if that's unsucessful i'm going to try this rather than splashing out the £300 for a refurbished motor from Clevor Trevor (as i can't say i know anywhere else to get one) I was hoping there'd be a different motor i could use rather than the old black cab one but after searching the forum and reading all the previous stuff it doesn't seem like there is.
The joys of the TVR wipers huh. It is, however, quite amusing reading all the different stories of wiper fails ! I now have all the joys of that to come.
