If the gasket goes does the oil get into the coolant or the coolant into the water?

you will have a milky looking residue in the oil....that is your coolant

I presume you mean coolant in the oil?

You also missed out coolant into the exhaust system or oil in the exhaust etc etc.

Well just checking around & it looks as if there is a little oil in the coolant. Thing is it has not been overheating nor has the level of the oil or water changed & there is no sign of white goo in the oil filler cap.
Tell me I'm flapping over nothing. Please!!

Take off the oil filler cap and look inside it, the filler cap that is, does it look milky or frothy?

If it does then I it's a good bet that water is entering the lubrication system somewhere, usually via the head gasket.

Not necesarrily, it depends on where the gasket has blown

Do a search on the "engines" forum, there are few good explanations there

Think it's "panic over". In daylight it seems to be just a film on top of the water which reflected back the torch light. Phew! was I wetting myself or what!:0
