Hairy moment - No ???

After 2-months of ownership still really enjoying the car - sorry so few posts - some of us have a job to do ! 
Anyway, I use the car for the daily commute to the railway station (5.5 miles) and have so far been very good and limited myself to 3,000RPM in order to safeguard my baby. This morning I was late, so gave it a bit (2-mile country lane then 3 miles on an A road) hitting 4250RPM in 5th - so we all know what speed we are talking here - Then the bonnet rose half way up to limit vision completely
Let off accelerator and it came down again luckily !
I checked all my levels on Sunday - so must not have fully pushed home the catch - Guess you only do that once !
Any one else had same scare ?

Yes. I've noticed mine wobbling about and closed it before I got to that kind of speed. Luckily.
The usual one is the boot not being closed properly. It acts as a spoiler at speed, but you don't see it as it drops down when you slow down. Makes the cars around you wonder if you're doing it on purpose.

I haven't had any problems with the bonnet (more luck than planning methinks), but my wipers have a habit of ending up in the middle of the windscreen at speeds in excess of 100mph.
I suspect that if I get off my fat arse then this is probably a quick fix..
Disclaimer: I have only experienced this on the rare occasions I take the car on a track day.

Hoofed it down to Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon along the M3 - VERY strong wind from the south combined with a 'pressing-on' kind of speed in the Chimaera resulted in a bonnet that was moving about like I've never seen it do before
In addition to that, at one point while only doing 70 officerthe car was caught by a particulary strong gust from the front. The steering went kind of light and the front end drifted off across the motorway towards the crash barrier. Needless to say, I cacked off to 70 [again] rather sharpish!!!
Don't know what the effective 'air speed' was driving directly into the wind, but it was enough to scare me for a moment or two

There is a bit of cost/benefit to consider first
A splitter is pretty cheap
It helps high speed stability
It may also help cooling a bit
It is the lowest thing under the car and will catch quite easily on traffic calming humps etc
It may therefore get ripped off ... not in itself a major concern as it is fairly cheap to replace ... but ...
Driving at walking pace in a field that had parking bays marked out with rocks ... one rock out of place, caught chin spoiler and put a great dent in it. In doing so it pushed the spoiler up and back knackering the bodywork where it bolts on to the chassis. The fibreglass repair was entirely successful, but expensive.
