After having a car pinched some time ago, I am understandably Mr Paranoid about my chim, now and then I have to leave it in the town centre multi story all day (if me or the mrs have to drive to work, I have a decent (allegedly) alarm and immobiliser but some fella had a removable steering wheel on his elise - just like an F1 car. Has anyone got one of these? where did you get it from and was it easy to fit? - not exactly the most practical of security devices but I'd like one if I have to leave my car for any length of time (eg in the garage whilst I'm on holiday) - esp after reading one of your posts on here - sorry can't remember the contributor where his chim was pinched and burnt out!

, the removable wheel bosses are made by Raid - try Demon Tweeks or your local boy racer bling bling shop - should be as easy to fit as a normal boss kit...and tell them it's for a Cavalier - might be cheaper than mentioning TVRs!! One thing that might throw you if you're keeping the original TVR wheel is that the six bolts position/pcd might not be in the same position as a Raid wheel.

I bought one for my VW, it was made by Snap Off, cost £115, still retained centre hornpush and is lockable. The three locator pins are offset and different on each boss kit, a bit like tri-lock locking wheel nuts so you cannot fit another vehicles wheel. On the back of the steering wheel there is also a small locking bolt to prevent it being refitted without keys so you can leave the removed wheel in the boot. They make them for any kind of steering wheel, I had a Momo. Brilliant kit and fitted in about 20 mins.
Tried to go down that road with my chim and ran into the following probs/issues....
1. Im a big chap and the extra boss pushes the steering wheel out another inch or two
2. You cant remove the existing boss as if you had an accident there would be less give in the steering wheel area.
If you still want to do down this road i have a removable boss kit unused. If you want it or want to chat bout fitting etc then mail me!!!
