LONG time away from this MB, but you guys were always helpful, so...
Chimaera 1997. Flatted its battery completely 2 weeks ago after a cold fortnight. Rather than the hassle of buying a recharger, I fitted a new battery today.
Some observations - (other than the obvious one that the bl**dy thing is BOLTED through the floor of the car). This reminds me of having to take a wheel off to change a front bulb.
1. The radio remote plipper doesn't work.
2. The car starts perfectly if I use the manual override 'key' in its socket.
3. The alarm remains fully 'armed', and sounds off/flashes lights whenever I open a door, or do anything which would normally trigger the alarm, effectively making the car undrivable.
What have I done to the alarm ? - I guess I've annoyed it by turning off its power. Can I fix this ? - Do I need professional help ? - (with the alarm, I mean).
I've scanned through the various posts on alarms, but can't find anything exactly the same as this problem. HELP !
