Mod-wise boot opening kit
Discussion
Yep, highly recommended, I fitted one recently.
I have pretty much no experience of doing these sorts of things but it was easy enough, although I had to call David at Mod-Wise a couple of times as my car is a 1999 with the recessed number plate & therefore slightly different to the one referred to in the instructions....(and I am easily confused).
He was very helpful and it works a treat. You'll congratulate yourself every time you return to the car in the pi55ing down raid whilst loaded up with shopping bags!

I put it to the left of the number plate on the side of the recess. Too awkward to get behind the number plate itself as the rear panel is twin layered.
It works fine there, you just have to be careful not to scratch the paintwork with the magnet (even although you only need to just wave the magnet over the bodywork). I'm going to seal the magnet on my keyring with a bit of suede or chamois to protect the paint should I get a bit clumsy.

Got the Modwise boot opening kit last year and found it great, removed a great source of irritation everytime I forgot to press boot button before imobilser kicked in. Mine is an early Chimera so back lit numberplate ideal place to put sensor.
Also added the boot light kit, row of LEDs which work fine, much better than grovelling around in the dark.

Cheers all. I have had an email back from David now, so will be ordering the boot opening kit.
Was at David Batty's yesterday, and was talking to him about it. He said that it was more tricky with the recessed plate cars, as the fibre glass is too thick! He also ended up putting it on the side of the recess - only place the bodywork is thinner!
Hope that's helpful for anyone else thinking about doing this mod.
Thanks for all your help and advice chaps.
