Knocking from Chim power steering pump

My Chim recently developed a knock which seems to be coming from the power steeing pump. Does anyone have any experience of repairing the pump ? Or am I better off replacing it completely?

Mine developed a whine soon after I bought the car and after doing some research I found it was just a Land Rover part and a replacement could be had for about £70, so I went down that route. Easy enough to change and the whine has now gone plus the steering feels much much better.

If you're not sure where the noise is coming from just get a block of wood and place it on the pump (with the engine running) and put your ear to it. You'll hear whether it's the pump making the noise or not. I wasn't sure if the whine on mine was the pump or alternator and this helped me confirm (although the alternator was whining too, just not as loud).
