I have fitted a new oil pump and packed it with petrolium jelly. I have driven the pump with a drill. When I stop drilling I can here trickling noises in the engine. When I look through the oil filler cap there is no oil.
So has the pump primed and should I be able to see oil moving through the filler hole, or is their a blockage somewhere?

P.S. It's about the 4th attempt at priming the pump and everytime I take the pump off the jelly has gone, so is it that stuff thats in the engine blocking the oilways?

Any ideas are always apprieciated!

If the oil pump is knackered then no amount of priming or drilling will rescue it. If the oil ways are blocked then the engine needs a strip down to see how much damage has been done. Either way, I think now is the time to consider some professional help.
