Hi,
Has anyone, or does anyone know if it is possible to change the interior lights to blue? including all the dash display ones. My friend has a Golf and they are blue and look really nice!

Any help would be helpful.

Thanks
Ross

I had vague thoughts along this route... I'd like my dash lights to be purple to match the paintwork. (That's purple or perhaps raspberry, *not* pink, before anyone wisecracks having looked at my profile...)

I even went as far as to buy a bottle of purple bulb paint. However, in its disfavour, it needs a few coats and repeated curing in the oven with the bulb stuck in a very high-tech potato mount. I went even cooler on the idea when I figured out that there was no way in hell I'd manage to reach the bolt that holds the dashtop on over on the driver's side.

Marshy, honest, the driver's side bolt isn't too hard, once you've actually found it. Once you know where it is, it's no worse than the other two.

I went out in the dark for the first time last night, and couldn't believe how much light there was coming from the various dials - is there any sort of dimmer control?

Here I was, ready with some flippant answer about then not being able to see where I was going when I thought "no, surely they're not ribbing me already - I've only had the car a fortnight!"
So I went and got my owners manual out and sure enough, there is a button under the steering column (opposite side to the boot release.)

Cheers,
Gerrard (still learning!)

Given the accuracy of the speedo is there any point in trying to get it illuminated ?

Ah, so that's it then - measure the cars speed by how quickly lights vanish in the rear view mirror !!!

I have replaced all my dash bulbs with White/tint of blue/ LEDS. Even done the window switches and finally got round to the ciggy lighter.Being such low current a dimmer control is easy. Oh and i also have them as side lights. Almost Xenon looking side lights!

Does someone make these LEDs in a "cradle" that mimics the form factor of the existing bulb, or it is more messy than that?

Are you planning to add this to your range of products?

I had thought of it but thought most people would think yuk ! I have an ally dash, black dials, looks the dogs. I must say the side lights get a lot of attention, not nasty comments either.
On a different matter, MC. After 2 yrs of trying to patent my 2 stage cooling system, i have just learnt a certain doctor Porsche got there first. Well great minds etc. I can still produce them though.

Bloody good idea that. And another major benefit: LEDs last forever.

And on a less serious note, you could go for the tri-colour items so you could get you dash to change colour with your speed. Red at low speeds, amber above 60, green at the ton?

Or just gently cycling trough various colours over time. I'm not good enough with electronics to do it myself though. Somebody...?

I want it, now.

Or you could make them blink intermittently and occaisionally conk out for half an hour so they'd be more authentic.

Unfortunately LED's don't last forever, just had to replace the Oil pressure warning light on the Griff so thought while I was there I'd change it for a Blue one, looks excellent for the few seconds it's lit, hope never to really see it working though.
