on Sunday after a long run I noticed that the oil pressure guage indicated zero then up to normal then zero etc. Car running fine (450 2001). Does it look like a guage or engine problem. Do I drive on or go to the garage?

There's an earth wire on the back of the gauge that has probably come adrift. Nothing bad just a bugger to get to as you'll have to get the dash off.
Same happened on mine, loose/broken wire connected to sender. You'll need to crawl under front end to see it. Try this first before removing dash. Out of interest what is normal pressure for you?

My sender died with the same effect - particularly evident during acceleration/deceleration and cornering.
However in the interested of your wallet, and not lunching the engine, my advice is to believe the gauge until you know otherwise...
usual pressure on accelaration etc 50-60 at idle 10-30 good or bad i do not know!
