drive shaft boots

got drive shaft off the 450 this morning,the offside inner boot has split,but to be on the safe side will be changing and re greasing all four,has anyone got any recomendations on new boot suppliers ??

thanks guys for response, have got a pair from unipart today for the sum of £9.99 and they are of reasonable quality beleave it or not !! took driveshaft to work today,stripped down cleaned reassembled and greased,re-booted and a quick paint ! back on car tonight and looking a bit healthier,,,,,,i just wanted to get the 450 back together to use while the weathers holding but when the winter approaches i will be striping the pair of them off and thanks to "neal 1980" i am wanting a set of those please!!!!!!!!!!!!!(and the rest of the chassis,nice work there)

Were the boots you bought a general fitting item or is there a specific part/model number.

I need to do all 4 and are quite happy to go the same route as you.

hiya sparky99,i had removed the drive shaft and taken it with me because i didnt like the idea of a universal fitt either , the boots i got were from unipart part no "DBC 800" , they come as a direct replacement kit with boot, clips and 50g grease sachet and must say fitted a treat and as said they appear to be good quality(not hard and thin) very flexible, because it had split i decieded to strip the driveshaft down completley and clean all the old grease out to make sure no grit in balls !!! so the 50g sachet supplied wasnt enuf (85g accordin to threads on here but had a couple of spare sachets anyhow) well worth the effort in my opinion ! also not to teach you to suck eggs but well worh the time to clean out the 8mm allen bolts before trying to remove as also recommended by others on ph (cleaned threads before refitting 35ft/lbs)hope this helps

sparky99,,, easy unuf job ,,,,on sunday i had just jacked up the rear of the chim just to aid a bit of cleaning under the back and removing the wheels for a fettle,and as a result saw the split boot,my only difficulty was i hadnt raised it up that high cos i was just cleaning so as a result it was a pain in the rear,to make removal of the shaft easier i split the hub to top wishbone pivot (making a note of the bolt position so as not to change camber when refitting)also may be worth a mention that depending of the route of speedo sensor cable along chassis rail be careful of lettin shaft drop onto it and damaging it(just missed mine more by luck than judgement!!) like i said if the car is up high unuf and then secure on stands its not a bad job(went a bit ott on the cleanig mine up but worth doing as its in that many bits to get cv boots on i.h.m.o) good luck,enjoy!
