HELP! - Front Speakers
Discussion
I've just got back from my local car audio dealer with a bit of a problem. None of the speakers available will fit in my doors.
Got a '96 Chim 4.0HC.
Popped a speaker out and offered up the grills of a couple of different makes and none would fit against the carpet.
Tried infinitys and Focals and neither was anywhere near.
Problem seems to be that no one makes 6" speakers anymore, they're all 6½".
I've read all the threads I can find and people seem to have fitted Infinitys so any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. However, possible solution is the Infinity Reference 6502 speakers. The problem is that the surround does not fit my Chim's doors, but the speaker does quite snugly. The cone looks quite nice, and the coaxial tweeter can be rotated (massive difference in sound reaching your head). So at the moment, I have no grills fitted.
However, you can buy grills separately, so I plan to buy a suitable grill and fit over the top of the cone. They sound fab with a decent head unit.

I could not get the infinities, so I used the recommendation of previous PH’ers & purchased Pioneer TS-E1695’s (£75 from the web) driven by an Alpine head unit. Snug fit, but no modifications required, colour is silver and quite discrete.
A massive improvement to my
& well worth the effort.
