Will a Chimaera kill me?

I've started saving for my new car and thought I had it sorted

I'd decided on a 330ci Clubsport, this was mainly as I like the E46 shape, I really enjoy driving my E30 325 which has been my first foray into RWD and it seemed like a natural progression

Then today I went to Wings and Wheels and looked at TVR's on display, I just adore the look of the Chim, inside and out and then the sound, Jesus!

I had a peep in the classifieds and I could get a 4.0 for about the same money (7-8 bags)

So to my main question will it kill me in a fireball backwards through a hedge? I've had minimal experience in my 3 series of RWD but am a sensible driver, I like to push on at the right time but would take some time to get to know the car and I reallllllly want one now

So opinions are welcome please

Aren't TVR's the cars with no ABS, TC, airbags or anything at all? lucky to get seatbelts from what i hear

Yes you will be fine, where does this myth come from about RWD cars, if you don't drive like a dick you will be fine.

I had no experience whatsoever with RWD cars, save driving a DB9 and AMV8 on an experience day a couple of years ago and I jumped from a Ford Focus ST2 (~225bhp FWD) in to a 2006 Mustang GT (~300bhp RWD). I had a couple of OMG opposite lock moments on wet roundabouts but other than that I was fine. Taking time to learn the dynamics of the car is the most important bit.

ETA: I wouldn't worry about it just follow your inner PH and go for it. They are scary in the ice and snow though .

No it wont kill you, it might hurt your wallet though. take your time to learn the car.
it will bite you if you dont treat it well, but buy one and enjoy it

It's not RWD cars persay, I've had no such qualms about the 330 I just thought TVR's were a bit less predictable with no TC etc

They are prone to lift-off oversteer, and also torque lock on downshifts. Understand and be cautious of these, and you'll be fine.

They're quick - bloody quick and easy to drive fast but as long as one part of the car is fine and well looked after, I never had a hairy moment in the dry or the wet - and that was the tyres. My car had new tyres on all round when I bought it and you could really tell.

I had my Chim for two years and I often wish I still had it ...

I'd have another one tomorrow given half a chance.

Never driven one but if you're fine in your e30, im sure you'll be fine in the tvr. E30's are known for being abit tail happy in the wet and have very little assistance, so im sure you will handle the tiv unless you drive like a douche in the wet.

As long as you don't hammer the loud pedal the first couple of times you drive it in the wet, I'd say you'd be fine. I'd imagine a TVR is likely to be a lot more fun than a BMW. You only live once, so maximise the fun!

Learn the car, Drive right no problem, remember no car had ABS TC or anything similar years ago, and you are here so we didnt all die! Anyway if you mess it up big time in FWD you see what you hit, in rear RWD you back into it!

If you drive it sensibly then you will be fine. But if you do crash it (or someone crashes into you) then theres a good chance of getting maimed. No crumple zones, side impact or rollover protection and you can forget airbags.

Yeah that's about all that is in my price range I think, are they not quick then?
