Car going for a service next week and buying most of the bits myself first. How much oil do I need for an oil change? Book says 5L capacity but will I get away with a 4L can of Mob 1 15w-50?

So, what's the answer?

Question was 'how much oil required for oil change'

IME a gallon will barely be enough

I used millers fully synth (10/40 IIRC @£25/5L), just buy 2 gallons the rest can sit in the garage till you need it

Rog - just get Pete to put in the Shell stuff that he puts in mine.

Works fine, Michael Schumacher endorsed and look how quickly he goes.

You said yourself that it was a 5 litre capacity. I took 4 away from 5 and came up with a litre short hence the reply no to the question is 4 litres enough.

Sorry if you were expecting something else

Steve, 5L is the capacity, I'm sure you will agree that is not the same as a re-fill because you will never drain it all out.

Sorry, but I was expecting something else.

You need just over 6 litres from my experience. I bought 4 x 2L or Motul Motorsport 15W50 and had just over a litre left.

Hmmm. So you need even more than how much it holds then? Well, as long as it's less than 8L I should be OK.

Thanks.
