Teething Problems
Discussion
New member! Had my 450 for 5 weeks so far, and with 2500 miles under my belt, very impressed. Only one niggle. On rare occasions after a short run, i'm having trouble re-starting. After an hour or so, re-starts without a problem thus i'm sure is down to a temperature thing, but today the temperature guage was only at 50 degrees. Is this common?, if not, anything I can do?
P.S. insurance:- 24 years old, 5 years no claims, 17000 miles p.a., business use - £1080. Spread the word!

It might be worth contacting David Beer of 'modwise' www.mod-wise.com/ , who will sell you a starter motor heat shield kit.

Sounds very familiar
Bought my 450 late Feb this year. Straight after getting the keys I went for a burn up the A3 (never exceeding 69.9mph, officer) and decided to stop for some fuel. Had to wait 15 minutes after refilling before I could start again.
Diagnosis - knackered starter motor.
Nice guys a Fernhurst replaced for free.
If the car starts no problem after 10-15 minutes, then starter motor is probably getting too hot or on the way out.
I've heard you can get a starter heat shield. Anyone know if these are worth getting?
