Just got my ’93 4.0 back from local indie after a cam to rocker change and surprised to see a V8 4.0 HC cam on invoice.
Can you really just swap the standard cam for the HC without any other alterations ? Seems to drive as before, but thought fuelling would have to be altered to compensate for different valve lift
Anyone come across this before ?

Did you ask the indie about it? and if so what did they say?

apparently it was delivered in error, and were advised by tvr it would run fine as a direct replacement. These guys do seem to know their stuff, but I'm interested in any other views on this

If knowledge serves correctly the chip is a standard land/range rover one anyway, which means that the fuelling won't be spot on to start with, might respond well to a chipping session though.

so what is the real difference between the 4.0 and the hc, is it just the cam or is it ported heads as well.

The question is really, should the "better" cam make any difference without other mods, or could it even drop performance if changed on its own.
