Vandalism in sunny Bournemouth

I despair of this world that I am forced to live in.
Parked my nice shiny Chim in a side street in leafy Bournemouth during the day yesterday for a couple of hours and some charmless scrote has keyed it down one side.
I now have a lovely scratch down the front and rear wings. Really nice that whoever did it was considerate enough to miss out the driver's door.
This sort of thing is normally my cue to go into a long winded rant; but to be honest, I'm too upset.
Can anyone give me a rough cost and recommendations of where to get it fixed in the Dorset area?

You're not wrong. I'm tempted to start my own political party to put an end to this country's political correctness, anti-car, soft-touch attitude. And rather than spend fortunes on public enquiries before carrying out developments, just get on and do it. Generally put the Great back into Great Britain.
That would be another thread entirely though...

If someone did this to my Chimaera I probably wouldn't think about forming a political party. I would be incredibly frustrated at not being able to vent my anger against the oik that did it. I might decide there and then that it just isn't worth the hassle to have a nice motor in this country. A really tasty motor and running gear in a beaten up old "mad max" shell might be the answer.
Prunus I really feel for you. I can just imagine the anguish. Maybe it's time for an insurance claim?

You're pretty close to it there Hut49.
Only had the car a few months and do NOT want to use it as a Sunday 'trip out to a country pub' car, but if this is what I can expect on a regular basis parking in town then maybe its just not worth the hassle.
As for the insurance claim?
Its only the no claims that makes the insurance affordable
I too am soory to hear of this cowardly attack. I'm sure some people expect to get nice things (like TVR's) without doing anything (like working) to earn them... Anyway, I won't rant either...

bunch of c * nts. know how you feel - i've had my last car keyed & my chimaera had its wingmirror kicked off in poole/b'mouth - both in nice areas. still, i live in hope that if it does happen again i might catch them doing it. (pulp fiction wasn't it? - 'it'd be worth them doing it just so i could catch them doing it').
A few years ago on a previous car I had a scratch
along the side at low level - I suspect a cyclist came
too close and caught it with the pedal.
Most decent body shops will sort it out.
Mine needing filling and sparaying and based on
this I would work on about £100 per panel.
Probably cheaper to pay and save the insurance.

As has oft been remarked around PH, TVRs are not common targets.
Went through Bournemouth on Friday and (having lived there as a kid until early 20s) was just thinking what a nice* area it generally is - there was a bit of traffic at rush hour, but pootled through and enjoyed the late afternoon sun on the way down to the Sandbanks Ferry - thought I might even like to live there again one day!

sorry to hear Prunus, it's a gut wrenching feeling.
The Toyota side of westover handle all the TVR work in Bournemouth, I have had work done by them and was more than happy with results.
Bournemouth has gone down in my opinion over the last 5 years or so, alot of it is due to the tourism industry atracting certain types of people, the news recently backed this up by comparing it to the troublsome areas of spain....

pvapour - I agree about B'mouth the last five years, tourism etc. Its a bit strange, i tihnk!! But i certainly feel like a bit of a foreigner when i go back now. Nonetheless, I still wouldn't really have it down as too much of a car vandalising area...
I would'nt either, although it has gone down hill I do still feel it is safe leaving a car down there most of the time, especialy this time of the year, summer on the other hand
and even being worse than it was, it's still a whole lot better than some other areas.

I used to live in Bournemouth in '72, been back loads of times since, but not in last 3 years....
I think most, (but not all) places have gone down the nick to be honest........
Anyhow to the point......
Chim 450 had his Tuscan "keyed" a couple of months ago and "Chipsaway" sorted it out as good as new for £200, without a respray.......
