I am very pleased with my 450 chim but over the months there is one annoying habit and maybe it is synonymous with TVR's or chimaeras or tuned rover v8's, its that when travelling along at slow speeds ie 20-40 mph I have to change gear very reguarly to maintain smooth running, if i was to say the car lurches would be extreme but I have to select a higher gear and thus more revs , is this a sympton of the stepper needing cleaning or just normal Tvr life?

I wish I could. The larger varients of the RV8 from TVR Power vary in their intown manners and there does not seem to be any one thing that remedies it short of taking it to Mark Adams for a thorough diagnostic. Even that might not help, it didn't in my case so I resorted to rather drastic measures (see profile)and now have a smoothy in town that'll rip yer arms off when required

but I will try and see if it makes a difference. Apache- like your mods but as you say extreme....the problem with mine is not unsurmountable and I can live with it without the cost of your mods (I'm sure it was more than worth it!!!)

Go and see Mark Adams for a tune and chip. Had mine done in December and could not believe how much smoother the car is to drive around town. Before hand it was very 'lumpy' but now smooth as a babies bum!

I drive a W reg. 4.5 Chimeara with only 11,000 miles on the clock and just had a full 24,000 mile service done by TMS. So my car is as good as it can be without going for a re-chip.
I can drive as low as 30 mph in 4th and 40 mph in 5th, which are about the minimum speeds feasible. Anything lower and the engine is operating at below tickover! So a speed of 20 mph would definitely need 3rd gear IMHO.

Same as eter c, chim 500 erfectly hay at 30 in 4th, for examle. Just chatting with Austec they reckon any RV8 in standard tune should be comfortable at those revs, but if not it can be one of a number of simle roblems. Not necessarily exensive to fix, but worth going to someone with the roer diagnostic equiment and sort it first time, rather than the trial and error method. IMHO, of course.
