To cut a long story short... One of the bushes was non existant so took off the wishbone and cut them both out. Wishbone seemed very rusty but thought a lick of hammerite and a wire bush would sort that out. Thought I'd give the wishbone a gentle whack with a hammer and screwdriver to see how corroded it was and the screwdriver went straight through it. Have now replaced wishbones and have been told the suspension geometry needs to be re-set - is this correct? If so, where in North Kent can this be done and costing? Is this the sort of thing Austec can do as I have a service booked their next week. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Not such a short story after all....

I think geometry set up is done as part of a major service anyway, best speak to them and ask what’s included.

How much were the wishbones?

Might need some for mine soon.

Paul they were £49 each inc vat including the bushes already pressed in & that was from a main dealer. A lot cheaper than I was expecting. It's basically a 15 minutes job each side.

Might be worth doing then, I’m trying to change the shocks on mine but can’t get the bolt out of the bottom one, might just get a new one then as mine are a bit rusty anyway.

I can confirm Austec will do the set up. recently had wishbones replaced on my service, and they did the setup.

Agreed that it is an git getting the shock out of the bottomm wish bone.. I went and got a 19mm (if i remeber rightly) ratchet spanner from halfords.. 9.99 but money well spent, made it much easier...
