My R Reg 450 otter switch I think is playing up,
it originally had a 96/92 one in place, I changed it for a lower temp one, but it behaves like it is a 85/85 switch in that when the temp gets up, it blips on for .5 second then after 10 seconds comes one for 2 seconds then after 25 seconds comes on for 30-50 seconds, I have an override switch which turns the fans on fine. Any ideas what temp switch I should get 90/85 ?? and where can I get it.

I had exactly this problem recently. The otter switch in the car failed completely. Fitted another switch (88/83) and the fans behavoured as you descibe - flicking on and off very quickly. I put it down to a faulty otter switch (after checking all fan connections etc...) and obtained another 88/83 switch.
Fitted this and it works perfectly.
On the temp of switch question -I spoke to loads of so called 'main dealers' and specialists all gave me different replies, some clearly rubbish, for example ' we only have winter switches in at present' - why would you want your engine to run hotter in the winter than summer - must think people are completely brainless !
In the end, I tracked down the list below ( should be a link or URL address) for a range of intermotor compatible otters and picked my own at 88/83 (Part No) as I thought this sounded the best bet.

To get hold of one I used Motorcare motor factors in Abergaveny www.motorcaremotorfactors.co.uk/
Cost about £15 inc postage.
Hope this saves you the hassle and legwork I had to do. Fitting it was a doddle on mine, although my otter switch is in the rad - I understand its in different places dependant on age / model etc..
