i guess at the price quote above (6-700) that it is not just the covers.....i would like to put just covers on rather than replacing the whole unit as there is no way i can justify that price to my wife and 6 month old daughter

This has been covered (sic) before.
The later Chims had lights that were recessed further into the wings, that's why you can't just buy the covers for the later ones and fit them to an earlier car.
They have to cut out the 'glass around the old headlights, then sink in the late headlights, then paint, then fit the covers, hence the cost.
Gutted, trust me, i checked all over! I guess there's a market there though if someone came up with an alternative for the earlier cars.
Any volunteers? Leven perhaps?
