I,m going to carry out the exhaust mod to the rear boxes soon and I was wondering what metal to use for the sleeves, should it be stainless or will mild steel sheet be ok. thanks for any info.
I think I must be the same material as the parent box, IIRC you cannot weld dissimilar metals, i.e. Mild steel will not weld to stainless steel.
Better using stainless steel. However you can weld stainless to mild using TIG welding process with an Argon shield. Either case use 304L stainless steel TIG filler rod. Sorry Big Al.
