Does anyone know where to get Chimaera LHD headlights from? I need to change them for the French MOT.
Thanks.

They're standard Bosch (-> Automotive Lighting) 180 mm (IIRC) units. I'll try and get the parts # when I get home tonight.

'english car mechanics' on the cote d'azur (Opio) had a load of TVR sourced ones in stock the last time I was there, Simon or Mark are the guys to ask for.

Those are the TVR parts numbers, which may not help if you find yourself out of the reach of the TVR/Multipart dealer network... I hope I still have the Bosch part numbers somewhere...

Thanks very much for that. Not expensive either.
It's about time the French round this area realised what proper cars look like!! They thought my S1 was different, so let's see what they make of a Chim.

Cheers. I'll give them a ring and see what they've got. Would also like to go and see what else they might have. Any excuse for a drive!

I live between Carcassonne and Toulouse. Where are you situated?

Just bought a Chim 4.5 and bringing it down to France in a couple of weeks time. Can't wait.

thread resurrection biggrin

missed your question for some reason silly we're near Bergerac smile did you get your car sorted?

after LHD headlights myself now as I'm taking the plunge to re-register the Chimaera, there was a new thread a couple of weeks ago with some great info on where to go but search facility is down & i've trawled back to 11th May with no luck frown

anyone have a link to the thread? or remember the conclusions on it?

Webdealauto.com in France is where I bought mine from. I only needed to change the glass lenses. The part and number is: Verre diffuseur BOSCH 1305604026 35,39 € TTC This is the price each.
Good luck.

You can 'force' a search on Google to just look for PH topics by entering something like the following

"register Chimaera in France : pistonheads"

My first attempt brought up this http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=107...
but playing with the words will find others

Hi Pvapour, I live in Grenoble brought my Chim 450 in the UK and registered it in France, my lenses came from Clever Trevor, I also renewed the reflectors at the same time.
Do not for get to visit the tax office and complete the declaration form informing them you do not have to pay any tax as the car is not a new import..

byebye thanks for the reminder smile not used the hotel d'impot in this area yet, visited the one in cannes many times & was a very amicable place, where as 47 was a right little hitler, hoping for a good one seeing as we're here for a very long time now.

It's the prefecture 'day out' that's the hardest, 3 hours was longest wait frown though they are changing the system shortly which is meant to speed things up, we'll see wink we're used to the french system now so pretty much water off a ducks back.
