Hesitation in the wet...

coming home on the M62 in the p*ssing rain from "Cars in the Park" - (glorious sun all afternoon BTW)...Chim happily cruising at 70-80mph - go to accelerate and the engine would miss a bit - later in the journey when the rain had died off a bit tried again and all OK - looked when we arrived home and all the electrics were bone dry - I suspect this might to due to water getting in with the air - considering where the air filter is on a Chim combined with the biblical rainfall -anyone else experienced this kind of thing in the rain .... ? ? ?

same thing with me - similar symptoms to when the throttle pot needs a clean, little bit jerky when holding the revs consistantly.

I didn't notice any hesitation, but it was a smidge jerky last night (although I was keping the revs pretty low as I'd already done 230 miles on the tank of fuel).

I couldn't believe quite how wet it was. There was so much standing water around that at times it looked like the car was overheating with all the steam pouring out of the bonnet vents where water was kicking up onto the exhausts .

Mind you, there was no hint of a leak and the car felt completely locked to th road as normal .

Might just be the HT leads getting damp, but I know the hotwire airflow meter is spectacularly sensitive to moisture on the element so if water spray has got through the air filter somehow this could cause big problems.

it seemed OK doing a constant speed but if I tried just a little more pedal I got that slight jerk from the engine missing a beat....as we got closer to home and the rain wasn't so bad the problem went away...weird...

I had this and it eventually resulted in a refusal to run, idling at 300rpm and inability to rev over 1000rpm. Turned out to be water in the distributor.

PS. I've also seen 300 on the trip meter between fills! Tornado chip and angelic driving due to a slipping clutch. Very boring though.
