Price of a 'Previously-Enjoyed' Chim 500
Discussion
As my Chim 500 is up on PistonHeads for another lucky person to enjoy (yeah- it's up for sale - boo hoo!!) I thought I'd do a quick check of the classifieds here to check on prices. What I found was this:
Year Reg Miles Price
00 W 16400 26995
99 28300 23995
99 23300 22500
99 V 24500 22500
99 T 23000 21000
98 R 13450 20995
98 22500 19995
99 36000 19995
99 T 23000 19950
99 T 38000 19950
99 T 23000 19750
98 R 15000 18995
98 R 55000 18995
99 T 30800 18500
98 33500 18500
97 29500 18000
97 41200 17995
97 P 50000 17995
97 21000 17500
98 R 43000 16800
96 P 45000 15495
96 N 28500 14750
So I'm guessing that mine is priced about right for its mileage/age/condition.
The question is - what do these cars ACTUALLY sell for? The advertised price is seldon the sale price, but how much do prices differ? I'm after a quick sale as my new car is on its way in about 5 weeks time and I need the cash. Mines the Ocean Haze Chim 500 if anyone is interested.

pray for sunshine!
That's nearly an ad
, but before you get booted out - You've told us about age and mileage, but it mainly depends on condition. Your circumstances are not the same as the majority of classifieds you've surveyed. It depends whether you have a local buyer (or two).
A few are over-optimistic, but yours looks a fair asking price if in excellent order. Knock a goodwill gesture off and anything required to offset faults that are apparent.
What'ya buying then?!

Yeah, I thought so, out of the 122 ads, 22 are 5 ltr models of which IIRC 3 are already listed as sold. There have been quite a few threads on here quoting figures for the number of Chim 500's made and various people have had a stab at estimating numbers based on numbers for sale, this is just another piece of the jigsaw.

So how are my circumstances different? I have a car which I wish to sell, all of the other ads are from owners (some trade) who wish to sell - so what's the difference?

Unfortunately I have to leave the TVR fold for 6 months while I buy a BMW X3 at rock bottom price before selling it on to buy a Tuscan - yet to be found - but I'll be looking around Dec 04/Jan 05 for a suitable vehicle
I thought the concensus view was that the 450 was the 'favourite' (yes I know each to their own, hourses, course etc - but you know what I mean). A neighbour had one for sale, 52k, R plate, green metallic with creme hide and FSH for sale for ages last year at £15500. I was amazed - it seemed great value to me, and I was sorry I coudn't afford it.
Now there's a dealer (sorry - 'trader') down the road with one (a 450), 21k, forget the plate, for £13995. FSH etc - whay hasn't it sold? He's had it for weeks. Neither of these cars were/are bad, they've got the credentials on paper, but they don't sell.
It seems even a fair price doesn't sell a car sometimes. Based on the above I'd say your price was about right, but also based on the above, don't hold your breath...

Your profile suggests that car's in Belgium!?
Yes it does (as I work there), however, I travel very regularly to the UK where I will be based from July onwards. it is a standard UK car, 1st registered in the UK, bought by UK people (all on the electoral role). Just because my trip to work takes me to Belgium shouldn't affect the sale of the car - just a slightly longer journey to work - all the more reason to enjoy my Chim!
