snb802 doesnt fit

does this only fit the newer engines?? the part thats in my 93 4.3 has alot smaller thread than the one i bought.unless i took out the wrong part that is.(next to dizzy cap).ive only got the first edition of the bible which doesnt really help.

I have an 94 4.3 and SNB802 fitted mine no problems. It has the pre-serpentine engine which I should imagine is like yours.
The sensor you are looking for is the one by the distributor cap. I found taking the cap off gave good access to it.
Sounds like you have the wrong part. :-(

Maybe the pre-Serpentine is different, but on mine, the sensor near the distributor and pointing forward is for the temp gauge, not the ECU, and it isn't an SNB802.
On the Serp' the SNB802 is on top of the manifold, nearby, and points upwards, beside the other temp sensor that is not connected.
I may be wrong, but just wondering if you have removed the wrong sensor.
