Hi Everyone,I have a 93 4.3 Chim that has recently developed starting problems.Initially the fault seemed to lie in the starter itself as the usual click was heard when turning the key but nothing happened. So I removed the motor and had it reconditioned at a local Land Rover specialist at a cost of £85.They said the solenoid was burnt out due to the heat from the exhaust and having read other stories in the forum agreed this was probably the case. However two weeks later the fault returns, took the motor off, went back to the specialist and he tested it,it spun freely, admittedly not under 'load' and he said that the fault must be elsewhere. I have no link fuse and the battery is sound, any ideas??

Sounds like an inadequate earth connection.

I have cleaned up the connection in the wheel arch, but still intermittent starting. Sometimes it turns over first time other times after turning the key three to four times.Could it be the ignition barrel or that the starter motor needs looking at again?
