Alarm going off
Discussion
Went out in the Chim today - parked up and shortly after ( in a nearby shop )heard an alarm warbling then stopping...then warbling ( a bit pathetically) then stopping then it went off big style - bloody loud too....went outside and it was the Chim - no indicators flashing just the siren going off. I tried using the plip to switch off the alarm and it opened the car but the siren just kept on going... I eventually reached under to the siren and felt for the wires and found a rubberised blob which I suspect is some kind of connector - as soon as I touched it the siren went off ( thank God ). I suspect that what happened was the connector-blob thingy had a bad contact and the siren used it's own battery ( do they have one ) to sound as it thought it was being attacked ( ie someone was effectively trying to cut off the siren from the system )
Sorry for long post - but does this sound right??? The car performed perfectly for the rest of the day and seems OK now.

Hi Snorky,
Yes you're exactly right. The siren does have a seperate battery and cause a slightly quieter volume. If you try to disconnect the siren whilst the alarm is armed, it will go off - sounds like a poor connection at this joint.
Alternatively, the siren may have been damaged by water ingress - but the connector sounds more likely.

Been having an intermitent problem identical with my Chimaera. Have also had on one occasion the indicators flashing and alarm light when driving along. Today the alarm has started to activate when I lock the car, been kept in the dry for the past 10 days, continous fault no matter what I have tried.
Original Meta alarm fitted 6 year old.
Time for a new alarm in my opinion, unless anyone has any ideas
