Headlight bulb
Discussion
My MOT's due and my passenger headlight's no longer working on normal beam, but in order that I buy a headlight bulb before trying to taking the old one out, what kind would I need? It's a 1996 Chimarea 500 and I don't have it or my owner's manual at work with me...
Any tips on how to replace it would be appreciated too.
Thanks for your help,
J.

Fitting the bulb is a bit af an arse, the book says that you get to the back of the holder via a flap from within the wing or as my dealer did go through the front air scoop bit but I guess that depends on size and bendyness of your arms!!! I guess it also depends whether you have the mesh front bit of the central bar, mine is a 1997 with the bar bit and so is not too much of a problem.
Bulbs........get from a dealer is my easy bet if you live near one (mine at dream machines changed mine for free)
Hope this helps somehow!

I did do you a long answer but before sending, Pistonheads went pop and the reply was lost
Here`s the shortened version
Basically check the bulb you take out as some put more powerful versions in. Yours (from your profile pic) is the earlier grill which means it`s frustrating to say the least. You have to take the mesh grill out of its rubber surround (the rubber has an "s" shape profile for holding grill and bodywork together) - try releasing from one end and sliding out but watch paintwork!!!
You access headlight bulb by putting your arm through grill area and reach up to bulb from behind headlight. Using touchy feely method
release clips and take out bulb. Wear sleeves as the fibreglass inside is rough in places and your arm is probably going to be at full stretch.
Replace grill by reversing above, you may have to help the rubber surround on in places with the head of a screw driver or similer and again, watch that paint!!!
The later models had small access flaps inside the front wheel arches.
Have fun
