Chims heading to LM11
Discussion
AMSquared is taking his gold coloured Golf Cart down for the first time this year too Garlick.
We'll be on the Portsmouth - Caen overnight ferry on Wednesday but haven't got a route planned from Caen yet.
We took the ferry to St Malo last year and the road via Fougeres and Mayenne was unbelievably quiet and beautiful, so we might head cross country from Caen to Mayenne to pick up the last bit of that road.
Hope to see you somewhere (other than at the side of the road obviously

I desperately hope it hasn't become too 'Boys on Tour' as it was heading that way the last time I was there.
Erm, well I saw a load of people painted up like Vikings get a French police car on two wheels outside the Technoparc entrance on Friday night last year... Driving through there at 1am is about the only time I've ever locked my doors while inside a car.We were particularly nervous driving through the same area a bit earlier in my boss's (very open) vintage Bentley. There were water bombs, supersoakers and bottles of what looked disturbingly like wee all heading our way. And then we turned round to see a huge ex-RAF fire engine with a union jack, a massive Pistonheads banner, and more importantly a high-pressure water cannon on it. After that our progress through the crowd was unimpeded!
To be honest - it's quite easy to avoid all the nonsense (does depend where you camp though).
We camp at the airfield on a site that doesn't tolerate stupidity. We arrive on the Thursday, set up camp, enjoy a few beers, go and see the qualifying, enjoy a few glasses of wine and chill.
Friday, you've got so many choices. The only thing you need to know is not to drive around the usual places after about 5pm. We tend to do Saint Saturnin in the morning then Lowdrag's meet in the afternoon, but you can do the pit walk etc. Drivers parade in the evening if you want - we chill.
After that - it's about the race.
Basically, we avoid driving around mulsanne straight, arnage or the other campsites late on Friday - This avoids the idiots.

Will hopefully be popping my European TVR cherry in June, but not to LM.
Will be heading to Munich with a few stops along the way. I have told the misses that there is a really picturesque little traditional German town called Nurburg that we would be foolish to not stay at for a night or two and so far she is going for it

Done that run on an overnight trip last year (without the 'ring trip!) 13 hours from Stoke to Munich Will be heading to Munich with a few stops along the way. Taking my new toy this time. As an LM regular since 99 and then missed 2010 (it was getting a bit same-y 24hours of racing then an Audi wins). Remember the 'glory years' with TVR, Morgan, panoz, even the MG powered RML? All booked up and ready for the trip since Christmas.
Also doing the Wednesday overnighter from Portsmouth but to St Malo, as it is a nice morning drive down from there to Le Mans. There's also a nice route from Caen that runs through a small forest near Alencon.
The other half of my small party is travelling in a 1965 mini Cooper S. Very original with period Downton mods. Think I'll have the advantage with the Chim this time (instead of the usual MG). If you spot the odd pair (Green/white mini, blue Chim) on the quayside come and say 'hi'.

Now, about stickers (seeing the car above)
I like adding a few for Le Mans, but am also very precious about the paint on my Chimaera - to the point that I have recently spent a fortune on a detail and protective top coat.
How does the paint hold up to adding stickers? A friend of mine (and prominent PHer) still has a sticker on his from 2007 as when he attempts to remove it, it takes the top coat of paint with it.
