Wiper Blades

Had a look through the old messages on the subject.
Given the amount of wet stuff coming down, any current suggestions/hints/don't touch them comments on replacing the blades.
Wiper motor and arms work fine (tempting fate???) - just the rubbers are now very worn.

makes all the difference!

I cant stress enough - use rainex and regularly apply. The rain just rolls off - especially the faster you go - if I can be the 2nd to say

No doubt there are past postings on this, but anyone ever successfully managed to get the tip of the blade to make contact across the whole of its sweep? When at rest, the top 2" of the passenger side blade is not in contact with the screen. ('99 Chimaera).

Nope. I think the revised wiper arm design may help (around '99 onwards - they park much lower, easiest way to tell).

You need std 16inch blades from Haflords or whereever. They fit like on any other car.

yeah Peter Reid from NYTVRCC has one of the late Chims and his passenger side wiper arm is straight whereas mine has a slight kink in it ( oooo errr missus )

I was thinking of fitting PIAA curved wipers, need to see them in the flesh to try them for fit though.

Thought I'd resurrect this subject as with the current weather, it is rather topical.

For some reason, the old wiper blades on my Chim are 17" and not 16". Replaced the blades (kept old wiper arm fitting) for 17" again from Kwikfit.(Champion??) Also tried Rainex as per suggestions for the first time last week and together, the results are BRILLIANT

Rainex is proof that assuming there actually is a God then his intention is that we all drive quickly!

I do so love doing the legal limit in the rain on motorways and having clear vision through the windscreen - in fact I have gotten so used to it that when I had my screen replaced on Monday due to a stone cracking it I couldn't work out what it was that was p*ss*ng me off on theway home when it was raining - then I realised it was the damn wipers that I was having to use for the first time in ages!

the best bit is the looks you get from other drivers who can't work out how you can see where you're going without the wipers on....

Mine work sooo well that occasionally they have come on of their own accord without me having touched the stalk! It only ever seems to happen when it's hot and sunny and the roof is off...

One of those endearing characteristics peculiar to TVRs I guess!

I find that Halfords cheapest wiper blades work much better than more expensive brands. I think someone once said they were thinner and more bendy.

I looked at this thread as my wipers were useless. I'd already bought new wiper blades & also followed advice on here & picked up some Rain-x at the weekend (£6.49 from the Motorist Centre.)A question I have is can you use Rain-x on the rear window aswell? On the bottle it says do not use on plastics....I guess there must be a chance it might react - has anyone tried it??
