Starting after filling up

From your description, it starts but does not run well for a few miles correct? If so, maybe it's the usual stepper motor clean required (prepare self to be shot down!
). If it won't turn over after filling up - your starter motor is probably being affected by the heat from the engine - in which case, you may have to replace the starter motor, though it might be worth trying the starter motor shield from modwise first to see if it helps.

Is it only when you fill up with fuel ? ,or does it do this regulary ?. Do you get noises from the fuel tank e.g Groaning ?,If you find it is more evident when filing up , try fitting the fuel cap not so tightly next time or remove the fuel cap and cut a small 1/8" nick out of the rubber seal in the underside of the cap and replace, If this eases the problem then the breather pipes at the back of the fuel tank could be kinked not allowing the tank to breathe or the carbon cannister is at fault as it is not purging the gasses and creating a vaccuum in the fuel tank, start at the simple things first !.
Had the same problem, not wanting to idle after filling up. Tried just turning the cap to the first detent today and hey presto idles straght away after leaving the petrol station, also fine there after. Shame I've had to go to unleaded tho, Optimax getting a bit expensive for daily use, have to save it for special occasions.
