I'm knobbed off
Discussion
I've got a 93 Chimaera and the door opening knob keeps catching on the gear knob when I change into second.
I noticed the newer models have the knob further back in its own little pouch rather than in the space with the gears and handbrake.
So I bought a new centre console and attempted to move the knob back, but it doesn't fit, it must be wider than newer models.
So, before I buy a knew door opening mechanism, can somebody tell me if the newer knobs still use wires to open the door or is it all electronic?
Thanks.

When my gear linkage broke, I found that the fore aft movement meant I could only get the car into gear by removing the centre console. It was a fairly quick fix to get the linkage replaced - apparently you do not have to remove the gearbox to do it, however as I had the clutch replaced at the same time the box was removed.
