Speedometer knackered

...29999, mile after mile...come on 30000 - no can't do it. Will this be a new speedo?

If so then this will be the second for the poor car's life.

They all do that, sir.

Known remedies are:

1) Doing a bit of enthusiastic reversing.
2) Tapping the glass with your finger regularly whilst driving along
3) Undertaking a trip on a ferry (worked for me! )

It'll start up again soon enough most likely.

Mines been sent away for repair, but managed 32799 before stalling. Anyway, should be back soon !!

Just got mine back from Speedy Cables (sister company to Caerbont who make them in the first place). Cost me £80 for a complete overhaul; quite a few parts needed replacing. Mine had jammed on "roll-over" for the third time and I'd had enough!

They turn them round pretty quick (not much more thana week for mine). Worth a try before you shell out for a new one.

Second CAI service, but arent some of the early instruments from ETB, who will also service them (the minor gauges are slightly larger @2 1/2" IIRC).

Happens to me each 10K I pass . . doesn't matter whether you are doing 15 or 150 mph . . . I find leaving it overnight it always comes out of it's sulk . . .
