Hi,

Anyone know if the front pads are adjustable? Just got my beastie back from a service and the front nearside now squeeks until the brakes are applied.

Yes I know I should but the garage is a long way away so I'd rather fix it myself.

Cheers,

Richard

I think all brake calipers are self adjusting these days aren't they?

If you've just got back from the garage (after getting new pads i guess?) then they should settle down after a while.

Go out for a burn and do a few 0-100-0 tests, that should bed them in!!

Can't you get anti squeak spray too?

Check the anti-rattle springs are still connected properly, if in doubt a smear of coppaslip on the back of the pads is usually enough to stop them squealing.

Yes the pads are self adjusting, could be the anti squeal springs has come adrift?

I know that cerbs suffer from this problem, not so much our cars though.

Dannyboyo,

are you still pleased with the headlight conversion?

Yep! I'm well chuffed with the look, need to sort out the grille and gapping holes where the indicators used to be though. But it feels good to have a Chim thats a little different to the rest, especially being in dark green it tended to blend in with alot of others!

Also, just above the wheel arch a couple of bubbles/blisters have appeared where they fibred on a new front quarter, one is an inch or so wide now, and grew to that size over a couple of weeks, it's now popped and split the paintwork a little, so I need to take a trip back to the bodyshop and get them to sort it. I phoned them and they seemed more than willing to fix it for me.

But all in all, I'm very happy with it. I'll be showing it off at PF!!
