injector cleaner

I was thinking about running some injector cleaner through my engine, the stuff you add to the petrol.

Has anyone tried it?
Is it a good idea?
Any comments?

I have no reason to think my injectors aren't perfect, but I thought for the sake of a fiver or whatever, it would clean out any gunk that might be in them and I might notice a difference that I otherwise wouldn't have seen.

NB If anyone has used it, what did you use?

I recently have used some Redex injector cleaner the last couple of times when I filled up, not sure if it's made any difference?

Optimax is supposed to do the same job, isn't it? I'd stick to that.

Trying to resolve a little problem a few months ago I used an injector cleaner on the recommendation of a mate with a Granada Cosworth thing. It solved the prob for the period I was using the stuff then the missfire returned as soon as I stopped putting it in.
Tried a couple of different makes and results ere inconclusive. Optimax had no effect on car running at all whatsoever, except my credit card bill increased dramatically.
