Tyres - Them Bridgestone thingys

Bridgestone, Bridgestone, Bridgestone!!! So they are the best?.

I will be honest here I posted a thread about changing the wheels for a larger set, because my Chimaera was handling like Maradona in his old fashion (i.e. poorly). It had Pirelli's on the front and some worn out items on the rear.

I bought recently a used full set of Bridgestone SO1.

I don’t want to start a long thread about these, but what a difference, like none you would believe.

To sum it up "Different Car Completely".

The moral of the tale here is. Listen to you guys who know best!

Try S02s and you'll be even more amazed. Big Improvement when I went from SO1s to SO2s on my Chimaera years ago (been through SO3s and Toyos since -Toyos are the better of those two IMHO on std wheels).

Currently running Pirelli P zeros on mine at the moment and its pretty damn good. Then again, I have to comment that I wouldnt have fitted them without the suspension upgrade that I have. I can make up for differences with the suspension settings (well my inabilties anyway) and have it setup to match tyres and suspension together.

Wet driving conditions arent scary now and the break-away is much more progressive. BUT (and its a stonking big one) I wouldnt recommend Pirrelis for anyone else.... unique set of circumstances I suppose - but agree, on the wrong car they could be disasterous.... SO2's are good and better suit a standard car.

SO1s? Have a look at the Dot code on the side of the tyre for me could you, it will be on the side of the tyre easy to find if it doesn't have dot written next to it it will look like it has been stamped on afterwards.

Just been quoted £105.00 each for two rear S-O3's Bridgestones,does that seem a good price? I have
S-O2's on at present and seem ok whats the difference?
I have also been Quoted prices at £59.00 but would these be a lower grade of tyre and how would this affect the handeling etc.

Wouldn't dream of putting lower grade rubber (must be ZR rated) anywhere near my Chimaera. SO2s are still available, my local tyre shoppe had them overnight from his wholesaler. £100 fitted each tyre.

Toyos cheaper from independent( maybe £20 a corner? ), IMO better grip and longer lasting than either of the bridgestones ( 2s or 3s ), either wet or dry.
